How remembrance day affected me.

Strangely enough, remembrance day did not affect me hugely. It did remind me to respect the soldiers in current and past wars. I was grossed out by the story about the rats. Also I did feel sad by all the killing done. Those are the small things that affected me during the remembrance day assembly.

One thing that especially reminded me to respect the soldiers was the music video that was shown. I couldn't help but feel annoyed at the man who was going about as normal, and how the cashier felt embarressed because he was trying to get his stuff payed for. It was a very nice touch when the music video added the old men who fought the war, walking through the store in their uniforms, and the man finally noticing them.It had a nice feeling, when the man finally stopped and stood during the end of the video, and the soldiers fading out. Over all, i'm pretty sure it made most of the people in the assembly respect the soldiers a bit more.

Another thing i heard at the assembly was the story about the rats. It actually made me shiver. First, the fact that soldiers learned to sleep with their mouth closed so rats didn't crawl in is nasty. But the second story, where a man thought his friend was alive because he moved, went to check him, and a ton of rats crawled out of his corpse, is even worse. I'm sure there are many more disgusting story's about the war that i have not heard yet.

The main reason people do not like wars is the killing done. This always makes someone a little sad, how so many men died. An unbelievable amount, and it hurts more that they were killed by othere soldiers in the same position as them, supporting their country. It sucks how even innocent villagers, who weren't even soldiers were killed as well. Wars are never a good thing, even if they are sometimes necessary.
